"After returning home from a lengthy stay in Indonesia, Temple founder and barista Sean Kohmescher opened the first Temple Coffee house in 2005 with a dream of creating a community gathering place much like the temples he visited during his travels. His vision was simple: good vibes, great service, and exceptionally well-prepared coffee.

Over 20 years later, eight coffee houses, and a roastery, it is still this vision that Temple strives to fulfill today."

We are so grateful for our amazing community! THAN We are so grateful for our amazing community! THANK YOU to all the wonderful volunteers who came and made this year's Chosen Family Feast a huge success!

This year we were able to serve meals to nearly 200 hundred people! This meal with our community means so much to us and we are so thankful to be a part of a community that wants to spread the love and kindess to each other.

Special shoutout to Chef Brenda for organizing the prep, heating, and serving of the meal! It's dedicated returning volunteers like her that make our special events so...well...special!

Another huge shoutout to Raley's for donating 40 pre-made meals so we could offer such an amazing feast! We were able to serve our community AND have full boxes available to send home with families.

This event shows how we can rally together and stand up with one another during the most difficult times. Between personal trials, scary external circumstances, and just plain life, we know that it can be tough out there. So we are honored to be able to come together and continue to serve our community.

Missed this opportunity to volunteer? Join us on Monday for World AIDS Day at Sacramento State University! Or consider donating on our website!

With Love and Gratitude,

Your Sac LGBT Center Family
We are deeply concerned by recent violence in Lave We are deeply concerned by recent violence in Lavender Heights, including the brutal attack that left a long-time community member, Alvin Prasad, in the ICU. Our hearts are with their loved ones. We’ve also learned of several other bias and hate related incidents in the neighborhood, from an attempt to tear down the Center’s Pride flag and broken windows to multiple attacks targeting LGBTQ+ people over the last several months. These acts harm our community and threaten the sense of safety and belonging in the place we call home. We are in contact with local stakeholders regarding the recent series of incidents and intend to engage in a community conversation regarding safety in the area.

We also know that many hate-motivated incidents go unreported when people don’t feel safe coming forward, don’t feel anything will be done about it, or don’t know where to turn. If you’ve experienced or witnessed hate or bias going about your daily life, or at work, school, accessing healthcare or other services, please use our Hate & Bias Incident Reporting Form so our team can follow up, offer support, assist with reporting to law enforcement if you choose, and advocate for those affected. You can access the form at the link in bio.
