Pride News: Sacramento Pride Puts Call Out for Entertainers

New Capitol Mall location expected to attract 10,000 visitors

Feb. 11, 2010, SACRAMENTO—The Sacramento Pride Entertainment Committee is seeking performers and DJs to fill the schedule on three live entertainment stages at the 2010 Sacramento Pride Festival. The day-long festival will be held Saturday, June 19, at Sacramento’s iconic Capitol Mall.

Entertainers and DJs interested in performing at Sacramento Pride may go to www.sacramentopride.org and click on the “Entertainment” tab, or e-mail entertainment@sacramentopride.org. Performers and DJs will be asked to submit descriptions of their acts, website URLs, or other promotional materials to be considered by the four-member committee. The committee will select performers based on type of act, performance quality and audience appeal. Deadline to apply to be a Pride entertainer is March 15.

“The Sacramento Pride Entertainment Committee is looking for a good mix of upbeat acts that will have broad appeal to the diverse segments of our community,” said Sacramento Pride Chair Josh Jacoby.

Sacramento Pride has expanded its marketing and outreach efforts with the goal of increasing attendance and corporate sponsorships for the 26-year-old event. The festival’s move to a new location at Capitol Mall, after a number of years at South Side Park, is expected to attract some 10,000 visitors. The festival will feature two live entertainment stages and a high-energy dance area, as well as roving performers.

Sacramento Pride is produced by and supports the programs and services of the Sacramento Gay & Lesbian Center (http://www.saccenter.org), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing youth services, free legal clinic and numerous other social support services targeted to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.

Major sponsors for Sacramento Pride and the Center include Wells Fargo, Rainbow Chamber of Commerce of Sacramento, The Hewlett Packard Company, Outword Magazine, Uptown Studios and Rainbow Pages, Inc.
